Balnakeil Craft Village is situated next to the village of Durness which is home to some of the most spectacular scenery in the Highlands. The craft village is currently home to a range of local artists & businesses including a chocolatier, hairdresser, art galleries, paintings & prints, ceramics, woodwork, glass work & more unique crafts. Not only is the drive along the North Coast 500 to Durness stunning, once you arrive you can also take a boat trip in to Britain's largest limestone sea cave, Smoo Cave, explore the many beautiful beaches and get the ferry that runs to Britain's most north-westerly point at Cape Wrath.
Here at Balnakeil Craft Village we are very concerned about the ongoing health issues connected to the Corona virus. Naturally, we want the best for our visitors but also need to be mindful of our own health and the health of all those who live in the Durness area. Some of us have taken the decision to close for the time being although a small number of businesses are still currently open. We suggest, therefore, that you check on the Balnakeil Craft Village website re opening hours before coming to see us in the near future. This has been a difficult decision for us to make - many of us are sole traders and our arts and crafts are our only source of income - let's hope it all passes quickly - we wish you all the best in these difficult times and we look forward to welcoming you back to Balnakeil in the not too distant future. Mudness Ceramics, Cocoa Mountain & Phil’s Gallery remain open for now.
